AARP | Road To Wizdom
Some projects you make. This one you fall in love with.
We partnered with AARP on "Road to Wizdom," a five-part series following the Washington Wizards as they launched their first-ever 50-plus dance team. From the very first audition to their debut performance on an NBA court, the series follows a group of dancers proving that a dream doesn't have an expiration date.
The cast makes it. A 50-year-old mom finally chasing a dream she'd set aside to raise her kids. A special-ed teacher who wants to show his students what it looks like to face down a fear. A breast cancer survivor dancing her way into a new chapter. Holding it all together is team director Derric Whitfield, on a mission to prove people can dance at any age, while making sure the crew can perform at the level Wizards fans expect.
This is Episode 1. The full series lives on YouTube.

The Result
"Road to Wizdom" was nominated for a Webby Award, online video's equivalent of an Emmy. But the recognition was only part of it. The series helped spark a real dance team that's still performing, and left us with friendships we've kept to this day. Those are the projects worth chasing: the ones that outlast the final cut..
